Solving digital asset tracking with real-time alerts

The Alerter App, part of the Adcore Marketing Cloud, is a real-time monitoring tool that keeps digital advertisers informed and in control by delivering instant alerts for critical campaign issues.

User problems 🚩
Keeping track of digital assets and alerts is challenging for advertisers. Without a central hub, monitoring performance and addressing issues quickly becomes difficult.
Business goals 🎯
Increase user retention by helping users stay engaged and quickly address issues, ultimately keeping them on the platform longer.
Research & Insights
In my user research with 42 advertisers, I aimed to understand their preferences for receiving alerts about important updates and issues. I asked them, "How do you prefer to receive alerts regarding important updates or issues?" This question helped me gather insights into their preferred communication channels, revealing a strong desire towards email and in-app notifications, while also highlighting interest in phone and Slack as additional options.
These were the results:
Users preferred email notifications because they’re reliable, harder to miss, and provide a permanent record for tracking issues. They also appreciated the flexibility of checking emails on their own time, without needing to log into the app constantly.
Boosting User Retention
The Alerter Forecast feature is designed to boost user retention by providing valuable insights that help marketers plan their campaigns effectively. I developed this feature based on user interviews that highlighted their key needs, showcasing essential metrics to optimize future campaigns. By prioritizing actionable tools that enhance the user experience, I aim to support the business goal of increasing retention and keeping users engaged with the platform.
To tackle the design challenge of simplifying budget tracking, I addressed users' feelings of overwhelm by providing a clear, at-a-glance view of their spending. They expressed a need for an easy way to see whether they were on track with their budgets. To meet this need, I implemented three color-coded messages to effectively communicate budget status:
Accessible Alert Solutions
To help users quickly find solutions for their alerts, I designed a Policy Guide page that integrates relevant articles from the Adcore blog right into the Alerter app. This way, users can easily access helpful resources without having to leave the app or search for answers elsewhere. By having everything in one spot, my goal was to make their experience smoother and help them tackle any issues that come up more effortlessly.
What I'd do differently ✏️
One key change would be adding chatbot support with tailored Q&A, providing users with instant, personalized help. I’d also enhance the onboarding experience with interactive tutorials, especially for users who are new to online advertising. I'm confident that these improvements would make the app even more user-friendly and engaging.
